KUALA LUMPUR – MCA president Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong has taken another swipe at J&E Advance Tech Sdn Bhd and businessman Deepak Jaikishan after the company admitted to calling the former minister over the egg import fiasco.
“The hilarious part of the media statement by J&E Advanced Tech Sdn Bhd is that the company admitted to contacting me on the morning of March 13.
“So who is actually making calls to me now that Deepak Jaikishan had denied his relationship with the company?
“In conclusion, J&E Advanced Tech Sdn Bhd did contact me, and the caller claimed to be Deepak,” Wee said on his Facebook page today.
This comes after J&E Advance Tech’s statement today saying that the firm attempted to contact the Ayer Hitam MP in a bid to persuade him to retract his previous assertions made in Parliament.
Wee also shared the phone number in question, urging Deepak to lodge a police report to put an end to the matter.
“Now, once Deepak Jaikishan makes a police report, we will get the answer. Who is impersonating Deepak Jaikishan (if the person exists at all)?”
J&E Advance Tech today claimed that Wee was deliberately misleading Parliament and hiding behind his parliamentary immunity.
The company said it had written to the Agriculture and Food Security Ministry asking for Wee to be referred to the parliamentary rights and privilege committee.
Also, J&E Advance Tech accused Wee of being voiceless while he was a minister during former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s tenure, adding that Malaysia might not have gone through the 1Malaysia Development Bhd scandal if Wee was brave enough to speak up.
“Where was your courageous voice then? You were probably having an eggless moment were you?”
Yesterday, Wee doubled down on his claims that a person by the name of “Deepak” had phoned him recently over the MP’s remark in the Dewan Rakyat on the importation of eggs from India.
Wee, when speaking in the Dewan Rakyat, claimed Deepak had called him on March 12 in what appeared to be an attempt to “silence” him over his recent statements on the country’s egg importation from India. – The Vibes, March 17, 2023
