IPOH – All three PAS state assemblymen will have an audience with Perak ruler Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah at 4.30pm today.

A palace source said they requested the audience after yesterday snubbing the sultan, who had summoned them to Istana Kinta at 3pm.

“Three PAS assemblymen have requested an audience and will be seeing His Royal Highness at Istana Kinta at 4.30pm today,” said the source.

The trio are PAS state commissioner and Gunung Semanggol assemblyman Razman Zakaria, Selama assemblyman Mohd Akmal Kamaruddin and Kubu Gajah assemblyman Khalil Yahaya.

Later, the source said Bersatu assemblymen will also be granted an audience with the ruler at 4.30pm.

They are expected to arrive with their PAS counterparts but will hold a separate meeting with Sultan Nazrin.

PAS had come under fire and was lambasted on social media after it was reported that its central leadership had instructed its assemblyman to cancel their audience with the sultan yesterday.

Its secretary-general, Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan, had issued a statement on the party’s position on Facebook today but still received brickbats from users.

In Malay custom, it is considered insulting to the sultan if an individual refuses an audience with the ruler.

Yesterday, Free Malaysia Today had reported state PAS commissioner Razman Zakaria as saying the chapter is still waiting for the green light from the central leadership to endorse an Umno-led administration.

Meanwhile, party president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had yesterday said Umno had more than a simple majority support in the Perak state assembly. – The Vibes, December 9, 2020
