PETALING JAYA – “Many thanks to all Malaysians. I wasn’t aware my daughter took the video.”

A woman who went viral for a simple act of kindness expressed her gratitude for the heartwarming comments she received on TikTok.

It is understood that the woman was at Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital in Sg Petani, Kedah to accompany her daughter who was admitted.

In a reaction clip uploaded yesterday, the woman wished her daughter would get better soon and prayed for everyone’s health and wished them well.

She apologised for being a little late in reacting to the comments that the earlier video had garnered. She explained that her daughter was unwell.

Two days ago, TikTok user @divyasree0605 quietly recorded her mother helping a patient at the hospital.

She captioned it: “This Malay aunty (has) kidney failure and she can’t see, so my mom help her to eat (sic).”

The short clip showed her mother feeding the other woman, much like how a mother would feed her young child. She even held up her other hand under the woman’s chin while feeding her using a spoon, to prevent spills.

This wonderful gesture involving two strangers warmed the hearts of many and the video garnered over 80,000 likes with over 700,000 views since it was uploaded.

The TikTok user showed her mother’s morning routine at the hospital in several other videos, which included helping the other patients in the ward eat and clean up.

The TikTok user described her mother as God’s greatest gift.

Many commented on the woman’s kindness, with one TikTok user, @sumozee saying: “Indian people are very kind. If there are people in hardship, they will always help regardless of race, religion and country. I’m proud to be Indian.”

Another user @nottkick said: “Thank you aunty. Even the way you feed, with your other hand underneath the chin, showed that you were very sincere in helping.” – The Vibes, August 3, 2023
