KUALA LUMPUR – MIC’s decision to support Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidates in the six state elections has been lauded as it marks a shift in the country’s political landscape.

PH’s Gunaraj George, an influential Indian leader within the coalition, said the decision by MIC president Tan Sri S. A. Vigneswaran, underscores the importance of Indian unity in Malaysia.

Expressing his appreciation for the move, he said MIC's decision is a testament to the party’s commitment to putting the Indian community’s interests first.

Such solidarity, he said, ensures that voices within the Indian community are heard and that their interests will be well-represented at all levels of governance.

The PH candidate for the Sentosa seat in Selangor said MIC’s move is a reflection of the spirit of inclusivity and cooperation that PH stands for: a desire to work collaboratively for the betterment of Malaysia as a whole.

“With MIC’s support, the coalition is better equipped to address the Indian community’s specific needs and concerns,” he said when met yesterday.

He said MIC’s decision reflects mature politics and a strategic approach in navigating the complex political landscape.

He further expressed the hope that such unity would be celebrated, and that different communities would come together for the common good, setting an example for a harmonious and prosperous Malaysia.
