KUALA LUMPUR – Whenever it is election season, Malaysians can always count on PAS for decorative replicas.

In the latest display of creativity, a PAS Amal member in Baling, Kedah revealed that he spent over RM18,000 to build a replica of a Nuri helicopter.

What is interesting is that the helicopter can accommodate guests inside and is even air-conditioned.

30-year-old Muhammad Baihaki Ishak said the amount was from his own savings and donations collected from villagers in Kg Charok Salang.

He said together with six friends, they took seven months to complete the replica as they geared up for the Kedah state election.

They did not expect the replica would go viral and attract the attention of outsiders.

“The idea to build this helicopter replica came from my eldest brother, Muhammad Zuhud Ulia who works as a house builder,” Baihaki said.

The helicopter uses a lorry chassis and it even sports an “engine”.

PAS and replicas

PAS members have always had a fondness for replicas. Over the years, they have constructed replicas of various objects ranging from tanks to aeroplanes to giant kites.

The party’s Wakaf Mempelam candidate in Terengganu, Wan Sukairi Wan Abdullah recently said the replicas help locals generate income.

He said traders are able to set up stalls where these replicas are located as it attracts visitors.

“This initiative is to build up the election mood as well as to make the election livelier,” Wan Sukairi said. – The Vibes, August 5, 2023
