PETALING JAYA – A Perikatan Nasional (PN) MP opened himself up to criticism this morning, with netizens wondering if he was able to read.

A video of a DAP event went viral where a man was seen speaking in Mandarin and making comments about Umno.

The man wearing a red Pakatan Harapan (PH) vest, believed to be a DAP member, also made references to PAS, calling it a “turban party”.

In a statement late last night, DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke said they conducted an internal investigation upon being informed of the viral video and found that the video was shot in June this year, and not during the current state elections' campaign period.

He also confirmed that the man was a regular DAP member, stressing that his views did not represent the party’s leadership.

Loke informed that he has instructed for the man's membership to be suspended immediately and for the disciplinary committee to take action.

The statement was posted on DAP Malaysia’s official X account at 1.16am. It was also posted on Loke’s official Facebook page at about the same time.

This morning, Machang MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal of Bersatu called DAP a liar at 9.51am on X.

He posted a screenshot that contained a scene from the viral video where a banner of the event and the date it took place were visible.

“DAP is lying once again! The video was only just recorded, look at the date on the banner at the back! That is their true attitude, they pretend in front of the Malays, but behind them, they incite the Chinese to hate Islam and Malays! Aren’t Umno members embarrassed to be insulted like this!”

A check on the screenshot that Wan Fayhsal himself had shared clearly showed the date. It was 10.06.2023.

This tallies with what Loke said that the video was shot in June 2023.

With many criticising Wan Fayhsal about his erroneous take, he has yet to respond or remove the post.

It is possible that the Bersatu MP mistook the number 6 for 8.

X user @abualfaruq_ asked the MP if he was not able to read the date.

Another user @tweetingdoubts said: “I think you should call your uni and ask for a refund. You’re obviously a moron.” – The Vibes, August 11, 2023
