GUA MUSANG – A teenager endured excruciating pain after an accident left him with a bamboo stem that went right through his abdomen.
The victim, Mohammad Ammar Hazriq Zuhan, is a Form 1 student at SMK Tengku Bendahara.
The horrifying scene unfolded at 9.30pm last night when he was riding a Honda EX5 motorcycle along the Jalan Gua Musang-Jeli road.
At KM29 of the road, on the Pulau Setelu bridge, the boy crashed into the back of a four-wheel drive that was stationary by the side of the road.
The pick-up was carrying bamboo stems and one measuring two metres ended up penetrating through his abdomen.
In a statement, Gua Musang district police chief Sik Choon Foo said based on the initial investigation, the boy was on his way to go fishing when the accident happened.
Members of the public rushed him to the Gua Musang Hospital and he was later referred to the Sultan Ismail Petra Hospital, Kuala Krai for further treatment.
“The case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving,” he said in a statement.
