PETALING JAYA – In what was possibly an immediate reaction to her father’s discharge not amounting to an acquittal (DNAA) verdict today, Nurulhidayah Ahmad Zahid took to Instagram to exclaim that “God is great”.

Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was freed of his 47 corruption-related charges at the Kuala Lumpur High Court today when the judge granted the prosecution’s application for a DNAA in the Yayasan Akalbudi case.

Nurulhidayah posted a picture that said “Allahuakbar” on her Instagram, without any captions.

Meanwhile, Umno secretary-general Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the whole of Umno is grateful for the decision and was confident from the start that Zahid was a victim of political prosecution.

This, he said, was from the time Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was made prime minister again after the 14th general election.

Asyraf said the court ruling was also proof that Dr Mahathir and Bersatu leaders were willing to weaponise the criminal justice system against their rivals.

“Umno stands solidly with the unity government. The Attorney-General’s Chambers and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission must continue to be independent and brave to carry out their duties without fear or favour.” – The Vibes, September 4, 2023
