TEHRAN – Iran has successfully sent its Zol-Janah satellite carrier into space, spokesman for Iran Aerospace Organisation Ahmad Hosseini announced yesterday.

The satellite’s research launch was conducted for the first time in the space field by achieving the technological benchmark of the most powerful solid-fuelled engine in Iran with a thrust of over 750 tonnes, Islamic Republic News Agency (Irna) quoting Hosseini as saying.

Cutting down costs, increasing the speed of achieving goals, and the ability to be launched from a mobile platform are among the major characteristics of the Zol-Janah satellite carrier, he said.

Earlier yesterday, Iranian Defence Minister Brigadier-General Amir Hatami said that Iran has proved its domestic capability in advanced science and technology monopolised by the world’s major scientific and technological powers, in a message in conjunction with its National Space Technology Day. – Bernama, February 2, 2021
