KOTA BARU – Kelantan secured investments worth RM1.6 billion through six projects last year, said state Industry, Trade, Investment and Entrepreneur Development Committee chairman Datuk Hanifa Ahmad.

He said the projects included development of a furniture town in Gua Musang involving an investment of RM1 billion and Taman Industri Industrialised Building System (IBS) in Machang, involving a total investment of RM300 million.

“These two projects alone can create employment opportunities for 5,000 people when they are fully operational,” he told the state assembly today.

He said this in response to a question from Rohani Ibrahim (PAS-Tg Mas) who wanted to know the amount in investments obtained last year and the number of jobs created for locals, especially the youth.

To a question by Mohd Syahbuddin Hashim (BN-Galas) on the progress of the furniture town project in Gua Musang, Hanifa said the first phase of the project, involving 50ha, had produced 16 factory lots.

“As of today, two companies are in the process of applying for planning permission to set up an outdoor furniture factory and a moulding factory,” he added. – Bernama, August 24, 2021
