POLICE have brought in their dogs Falco and Jimmy from the K9 unit to help track down those responsible for the murder of six-year-old Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin whose body was found near the Idaman Apartments in Damansara Damai, Petaling Jaya.

Petaling Jaya police chief Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said the dogs were brought in to uncover new leads and the police were determined to capture the suspect.

The canines arrived at 1.50pm at the scene.

“We are now gathering all the information possible, from the scene and also the public.

“Police have also spoken to residents in the area and are also collecting all dashcam footage,” he said.

Fakhrudin also appealed to those in the area with dashcams to hand over any recordings which could be of use to the police in solving the case.

He also urged the public to refrain from sharing or spreading any false information which may jeopardise investigations.

“We will not hesitate to act against anyone found spreading any such rumours,” he said.

Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan earlier said that the police believe there were criminal elements involved and the case is being investigated under section 302 of the penal code.

“The post-mortem revealed injuries to the boy’s neck and body,” he said.

The victim, who has autism, was found dead near a river, about 100m from Apartment Idaman in Damansara Damai after his mother reported him missing on Tuesday. – The Vibes, December 9, 2023.
