INVESTIGATIONS into the disappearance of Datin Seri Pamela Ling Yueh are also looking into if she was taken by policemen or impersonators, said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.
He said the investigation follows the testimony of an e-hailing driver who drove Pamela to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters in Putrajaya at noon on April 9.
“The authorities are aware of claims suggesting that Pamela was taken by individuals wearing vests marked "police", and further investigations are ongoing.
“We are also reviewing CCTV footage from the location of the incident,” he said as reported by Berita Harian.
He said police could not yet disclose further details of the investigation, as doing so could compromise any plans or follow-up actions being considered, as well as the integrity of the ongoing probe.
He said he has instructed the Bukit Aman (federal police) Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to assist the Kuala Lumpur police contingent with this case and to track down Pamela's whereabouts.
"Bukit Aman and the Kuala Lumpur police are scrutinising all facts and leads in their efforts to locate the victim," he said.
He declined to comment on whether Ling's disappearance was orchestrated by certain parties due to her assets and wealth but did not rule out the possibility that the case was planned to implicate the MACC and police force.
Pamela's family had earlier expressed fears that she may be taken away to another country.
Her brother, Simon Ling Wan Siong, said this follows Pamela's disappearance which has entered the 26th day after she was reported missing.
He said the family hopes that his sister is still in Malaysia and is safe. – May 5, 2025
