A KEY prosecution witness in Lim Guan Eng's corruption trial was attacked by a group of 10 men who broke into his home near Petaling Jaya today.

The victim suffered injuries to his face and hands after the attackers forced their way into his residence, according to a source close to the trial.

According to reports in Berita Harian, it is understood that the attackers tied up two security guards before entering the victim's home.

"The attackers also warned him to just stay home and not be a 'hero'," the source said.

Petaling Jaya Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Shahrulnizam Ja'afar, when contacted, confirmed the incident and said a statement would be issued soon.

The lead prosecutor in Lim's case, Datuk Wan Shahruddin Wan Ladin, said the prosecution would raise the issue when the trial resumes on August 19.

Lim, who is also a DAP advisor, is facing several corruption charges in the Sessions Court in relation to the Penang Undersea Tunnel Project.

He is accused of using his position as Penang Chief Minister at the time to solicit bribes from the Director of Zenith Construction Sdn Bhd (CZCSB) Consortium, Datuk Zarul Ahmad Mohd Zulkifli, to help the company secure the project.

Lim is also accused of soliciting 10 percent of the company's profits from Zarul.

In addition, he is also accused of receiving RM3.3 million for himself and causing two plots of land owned by the state government to be disposed of to two companies linked to the project. - August 6, 2025
