WARISAN today received the membership of former Sabah and Labuan Federal Territory Umno Veteran Chairman Datuk Sairin Karno along with 30 former Umno veteran members.
Warisan President Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal said that the membership of the former State Assemblyman (ADUN) Liawan showed they believed Warisan's political struggles.
He said that as an old friend in politics, Sairin saw that Warisan's political struggle was for the people and the state of Sabah.
"I am happy to see my old friends in the political struggle and also our young people in the political arena today joining Warisan," he told a press conference today.
He was also confident that there would be more people joining Warisan and they just had to wait a little longer.
"We just need to reorganise to ensure their presence can strengthen and make the party's agenda a success.
"If we can bring the needs of the Sabah people together on a good platform, it will not be divided and disputed," he said.
Meanwhile, Sairin said, after being appointed as the Sabah and Labuan Umno Veterans Chairman, they noticed that people at the grassroots level were more interested in leaders like Shafie.
"I see the efforts of the leaders in Sabah, especially from Warisan, and the people need to know our true situation here.
"Sabah must be led by a leader like Datuk Seri Shafie," he said, adding that a less-talking approach will lead to fewer mistakes in politics.
Apart from Sairin, also announcing his membership to Warisan was former Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Ranau Youth Chief Mohd Haris George along with 50 former Bersatu youth members. - October 8, 2025
