KUALA LUMPUR – Two people have been injured after a two-seater helicopter crashed this morning in an open area in the Port Klang Free Zone.
According to the report sighted by The Vibes, the two victims sustained injuries and were taken to hospital by a West Port ambulance.
The two-seater Robinson R66 9M-SAW private helicopter attempted an emergency landing before it crashed.
Pilot, Kharudin Dahlan, 72, is said to have injured his left hand.
Meanwhile, co-pilot Moithu Kutti Mohamad, 52, has light injuries.
According to Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Norazam Khamis, the emergency call was received at 10am today.
There was no fire following the crash.
The cause of the incident has yet to be determined.
On November 8, two helicopters crashed in Taman Melawati, Ampang, at noon.
Authorities said two people were killed, while another two were injured. The accident involved a woman and three men.
Authorities believed that the two helicopters were conducting flight tests, but the pilot of one of them lost control and crashed in a small clearing.
Police identified the victims as Mohamed Sabri Baharom, 56, and Mohd Irfan Fikri Mohamed Rawi, 41.
Police later said former Malaysian Airline System Bhd group CEO Ahmad Jauhari Yahya, who was one of the pilots, was in the helicopter that crashed in the field, with passenger Wendy Tan.
The flight tests were believed to be part of Jauhari’s My Heli Club. The make of the helicopters were the Heli Cabri 9M-HCB and Heli Cabri 9M-HCA. – The Vibes, January 1, 2021
