PAS will take over as the opposition leader in the Dewan Rakyat, which is currently held by Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin.

PN Deputy Secretary-General, Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan, said the matter would be discussed with the new PN Chairman, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, in the near future.

"It has been decided that some time is needed before a decision on the new opposition leader," he said in a press conference after the Extraordinary Meeting of the PN Supreme Council, at the PAS headquarters, today.

Hamzah, the Larut member of parliament, was sacked by Bersatu after being accused of attacks against party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

Aside from Hamzah, 16 others were sacked, including MPs Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal (Machang), Azahari Hasan (Padang Rengas) and Fathul Huzir Ayob (Gerik). - February 22, 2026
