DATUK Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has assured that he will resolve the political crisis in Negeri Sembilan through proper political channels.

The UMNO president said that it is very important at this time to find the best solution to determine a strong government in Negeri Sembilan so it can continue to serve and address the problems of the people.

"We will follow the Negeri Sembilan Constitution and also the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) regulations to resolve this issue.

"In my opinion, it is not that easy, and the best thing is to follow all the existing regulations and procedures to ensure that the problem is resolved according to the law.

"I will resolve the current crisis through the proper political channels, and we will ensure we do not interfere in the administrative affairs of the state government or customary laws of Negeri Sembilan," he said.

He said this when met at the 54th Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Enforcement Day Celebration and the Launch of the National Consumer Policy 2.0, today.

Yesterday, Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN) Negeri Sembilan announced that they were withdrawing their support for the Menteri Besar and Sikamat State Assemblyman (ADUN), Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.

Its chairman, Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias, reportedly said that the decision was made unanimously involving all 14 Umno/BN Negeri Sembilan assemblymen following the current customary crisis.

However, Aminuddin announced in his press conference that he would continue to administer the state even though 14 BN assemblymen had withdrawn their support.

He said that he had informed the Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, about the current position of the assemblymen who supported him.

Asked about his meeting with Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim regarding the crisis, Ahmad Zahid, who is also BN chairman, said that he would meet the Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman today, but refused to reveal the location and time of the meeting. – April 28, 2026
