THE UMNO Political Bureau is expected to discuss the latest developments regarding the Negeri Sembilan Umno stance next week.

Umno Secretary-General Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said that so far, he has not yet received a full explanation from the state leadership regarding the issue.

He said the party's Political Bureau had set several important resolutions, including holding a meeting with the Pakatan Harapan (PH) Political Bureau in the near future.

"Among the resolutions is that we sit with the PH Political Bureau to examine matters involving the policies of both parties.

"What is happening in Negeri Sembilan is closely related to the policies and stances of each party.

"We will return to the agreement of understanding for the formation of the Unity Government, which stipulates that any misunderstandings or disputes must be resolved through the Leadership Consultative Council," he said when met by reporters after the MARA 60th Anniversary Celebration.

Commenting on whether the meeting would determine the change in the Menteri Besar position, Asyraf said various aspects need to be considered, and it cannot be viewed from an individual perspective alone.

"This is not just a matter of individuals, but rather involves institutions, including the sovereignty of royal institutions and customs which need to be understood comprehensively," he explained.

Yesterday, Negeri Sembilan Umno stressed that the party was willing to be the opposition rather than continue to be with PH in the state government administration.

Its chairman, Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias, said the decision was made because his party did not want to be associated with issues involving Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, regarding the custom crisis and the state Constitution. – May 3, 2026
