THE Sessions Court in Alor Setar today ordered a real estate agent accused of trying to kill a single mother by stabbing the victim in the neck to be sent to Hospital Bahagia, Ulu Kinta, Perak, for psychiatric evaluation.

Judge N. Priscilla Hemamalini made the order on the accused, Muhammad Ilhami Badaruddin, 32, after granting the application by his lawyer, Mohd. Hakim Hamran.

Mohd. Hakim informed the court that his client has mental problems and is seeking treatment at the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital.

Earlier, Muhammad Ilhami pleaded not guilty and asked to be tried as soon as the charges were read out before Priscilla.

According to the charge, he is accused of attempting to murder by stabbing Nurul Husna Kasmani, 35, in the neck with a knife in Titi Gajah, Kepala Batas, at about 9.19 pm, May 17.

The prosecution was carried out under Section 307(1) of the Penal Code, which provides for a prison sentence of up to 10 years and a fine, while if the act causes injury, it can be punished with a maximum prison sentence of 20 years, if convicted. – May 26, 2026
