A MALE teenager pleaded guilty at the Magistrates Court to charges of extreme indecency and committing an obscene act after flashing at his mother at a residential property in Batu Pahat.
The 17-year-old student pleaded guilty after both criminal charges were read to him by a Mandarin interpreter before Magistrate Arun Noval Dass.
The court heard that the incident transpired around 5 pm on 1 June, following a confrontation by the minor.
Berita Harian reported today that under the first charge, the youth was accused of insulting the modesty of his 43-year-old mother by demanding she perform an explicit act on him.
This offence was framed under Section 509 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of five years imprisonment, a fine, or both upon conviction.
For the second charge, the teenager was charged with committing an act of gross indecency against his mother at the same time and location.
This specific offence was brought under Section 377D of the Penal Code, which provides for a jail term of up to two years.
The prosecution was led by Deputy Public Prosecutor Firdaus Ruslan, while the offender was represented by Tan Song Yan from the National Legal Aid Foundation.
According to the facts, the teenager had been watching adult content in his bedroom earlier that afternoon, which triggered him.
Unable to restrain himself, he went after his mother while she was using the bathroom, knocking aggressively on the door until she opened it.
Upon opening the door, the mother discovered her son had completely lowered his trousers to expose his genitals while making highly inappropriate physical demands.
Shocked by the encounter, the woman immediately retreated into the bathroom, locked the door, and later lodged a report at the Batu Pahat District Police Headquarters out of fear for her safety.
The Magistrate set 19 August for the presentation of a probation report from the Department of Social Welfare, alongside the presentation of facts and final sentencing.
Although the court granted the minor a bail amount of RM1,500, he failed to secure the amount and was transferred to the Muar Correctional Centre to undergo temporary remand while awaiting his case. - June 15, 2026
