PERIKATAN Nasional (PN) stressed that no activity or meeting using the coalition's name can be held without the permission of its Chairman, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar.

PN Secretary-General, Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan, said the decision was to ensure that all activities, administrative and management affairs of the party are carried out in accordance with the party's constitution and comply with the Societies Act 1966 [Act 832].

Ahmad Samsuri, who is also PAS Vice President and Terengganu Menteri Besar, was announced as the new PN Chairman on February 22.

The appointment was made after Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced his resignation as PN Chairman, effective January 1, after leading the coalition since August 7, 2020.

Meanwhile, Takiyuddin informed that PN received official feedback from the Registration of Societies Department (ROS) today regarding the party's changes to the position of PN Chairman.

"(The ROS letter) confirmed the receipt of the minutes of the PN Supreme Council meeting on 22 February 2026 and took note of the resignation of the PN chairman and the appointment of a new one.

It was earlier reported that Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had called for a PN Supreme Council meeting later today.

This follows a move by Ahmad Samsuri, who confirmed that top Muhyiddin allies Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali and Datuk Dr Mohd Radzi Md Jidin had been stripped of their portfolios. - June 19, 2026
