SEVERAL vehicles, including lorries and cars, caught fire after an accident at Km 31.8 of the North-South Expressway (PLUS) southbound, between Sedenak and Kulai, this morning.

Pictures and videos circulating on social media showed several heavy vehicles and cars on fire, with thick black smoke billowing into the air.

The impact of the collision also caused severe damage to the vehicles involved.

PLUS Malaysia Berhad, in an initial traffic alert, informed that the accident occurred after the Kulai Rest and Treatment Area (R&R) heading south.

"The accident has caused traffic congestion in both directions. Road users are advised to drive carefully and obey the instructions of the authorities at the scene," the statement said.

Traffic is reported to be at a complete standstill as emergency crews work to deal with the incident and clear the affected roadway.

All southbound lanes remain fully blocked. - June 23, 2026
