KUALA LUMPUR – The conditional movement control order will be implemented in the Ipoh subdistrict for two weeks, from tomorrow until January 20, said Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The decision was made on the advice of the Health Ministry following a risk assessment conducted in the area.

“The ministry today reported an increase in Covid-19 cases in the Ipoh subdistrict,” he said in a statement.

“To date, the ministry has confirmed that there are 106 cases scattered in the Ipoh subdistrict, and of the total, 89 are local infections detected within 14 days.”

He said the ministry also confirmed there are still active clusters in several factory areas in the subdistrict.

Meanwhile, the enhanced movement control order at the Westlite workers’ dormitories in Johor Baru’s Tampoi Jaya Industrial Park has been extended to January 22.

The order was previously set to end on January 8.

A total of 194 individuals were arrested and issued compounds yesterday for flouting movement curbs, said Ismail Sabri, with the top offence being not wearing a mask (84). – Bernama, January 6, 2021
