UMNO has launched a nationwide donation drive to assist former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak in settling the RM50 million fine imposed on him under his conditional royal pardon.
UMNO President Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi stated that the collection is open to party leadership, members, and supporters, as well as any other parties wishing to offer voluntary support.
He explained that the initiative would be carried out transparently and systematically, while adhering to all applicable regulations and laws.
"UMNO is launching a contribution fund to help alleviate Datuk Seri Mohd Najib's burden in settling the RM50 million fine imposed on him," he said in a statement.
Ahmad Zahid also expressed his appreciation to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim, for the decision made during today's Pardons Board meeting, which allows Najib to serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest.
He noted that this development is deeply significant for Najib and his family, as well as for the entire UMNO family, who had long held onto hope.
"UMNO holds His Majesty's wisdom and discretion in high regard and expresses its deepest appreciation," he said.
He added that today's latest development reflects the stance UMNO has held from the beginning—while simultaneously adhering to established channels and continuing to respect the institution of the Monarchy, the supremacy of the Constitution, and the rule of law.
“With the utmost humility, UMNO expresses its boundless gratitude for this development.
“His Majesty’s gracious act brings immense relief to Datuk Seri Najib and his family, and will always be remembered with deep appreciation by the entire UMNO family.
“Long live His Majesty,” he said.
The Pardons Board for the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Labuan, and Putrajaya, which met this morning, decided to allow Najib to serve the remainder of his prison sentence under house arrest until August 23, 2028, subject to the payment of a RM50 million fine. – September 18, 2026
