KUALA LUMPUR – A politician was arrested by police over allegations of possessing and trafficking ketamine at Fraser Business Park, Pudu, here yesterday.

The individual is understood to have contested for the vice president position of the youth arm of a local political party last year.

During the 14th general elections, the suspect also contested for a state legislative seat in Perak.

According to Berita Harian, he was arrested by Wangsa Maju’s Narcotics Investigation Department at 1.45pm.

He was detained after he was found riding his motorcycle in a suspicious manner.

Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Saiful Azly said investigations revealed a white package containing liquid suspected to be 400ml of ketamine.

After interrogation by the police, a raid was conducted on a house in Ampang around 7.30pm, resulting in further discovery of drugs.

Nine cannabis plants were found worth RM4,500, along with dried cannabis leaves worth RM3,000 and liquids suspected to be a mixture of ketamine and THC worth RM53,100.
