KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia today registered 1,782 recoveries from the coronavirus, exceeding the 1,354 fresh infections logged.
The latest figures drive total recoveries to 306,274, while the national caseload stands at 323,763, said the Health Ministry.
It reported another four Covid-19 fatalities, taking the death toll to 1,210.
Selangor once again leads the daily tally with 577 infections.
Sarawak is a distant second with 178, followed by Penang (154), Johor (121) and Perak (101).
States with cases in the double digits are Kuala Lumpur (55), Sabah (39), Terengganu (37), Kedah (33), Kelantan (26) and Negri Sembilan (21).
Pahang logged five infections, followed by Melaka (4), Putrajaya (2) and Labuan (1).
Perlis is the sole state without fresh cases.
The bulk of the latest infections – 1,340 – are local transmissions.
There are 158 Covid-19 patients in intensive care, with 71 requiring respiratory assistance.
The ministry said three new clusters were detected, one of which is Johor’s Jalan Tun Mutalib Tiga cluster in Kota Tinggi, involving factory workers in the Bandar Tenggara industrial area.
As of today, 469 individuals have been screened for the virus, with 10 returning positive results.
Selangor’s Jalan Sutera cluster covers Hulu Langat district. It involves workers of a factory in Jalan Sutera 1/5A, Bukit Angkat in Kajang.
So far, eight infections have been logged out of 26 people screened.
Sarawak’s Begalak cluster involves residential areas in the districts of Sibu and Song. Of the 335 people screened, 49 tested positive. – The Vibes, March 14, 2021
