KUALA LUMPUR – In an effort to highlight alleged double standards applied to ministers and VIPs, the Malaysia United Democratic Alliance (Muda) will launch the lapormenteri.com website to compile complaints and information on luminaries getting away with Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs).
At a press conference today, the youth-fronted organisation said the website is aimed at publicising information on the matter to the attention of authorities.
Muda alleged that these same authorities had turned the other cheek when it came to ministers and VIPs flouting SOPs, while the same rules were applied strictly on ordinary Malaysians.
“Muda wants the leadership of the government and police to take action against these double standards that the ministers and VIP are given compared to the public with regards to the health SOPs.
“The responsible parties must investigate all the cases that involve ministers and VIPs and reveal the results of their investigations with fairness.”
Muda highlighted several incidents involving ministers who flouted interstate travel SOPs – Federal Territories Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa, Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Noraini Ahmad, Padang Terap MP Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid and Deputy Home Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Mohamed Said.
It also pointed to Housing and Local Government minister Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin’s event on Sunday at Taman Persekutuan Bukit Kiara in Kuala Lumpur on March 13.
“Muda urges the government to take action and punish (rulebreakers) regardless of their background, status nor influence.” – The Vibes, March 16, 2021
