KOTA KINABALU – Four private clinics in Sabah have been authorised by state health authorities to administer Covid-19 vaccines for free.

State Health Department director Datuk Dr Christina Rundi said these clinics will conduct the inoculation exercise under the national immunisation programme.

She said appointments will be made via MySejahtera, and recipients will be notified through the app.

“No walk-ins are allowed, and no fees imposed for vaccination.”

Three of the clinics are located in Kota Kinabalu – Bandar Sierra, Damai Plaza and Inanam – and the fourth is in Tenom, in the Sabah interior.

On overcrowding at the vaccination centre at the federal complex’s multipurpose hall here, Dr Rundi said second-dose recipients not given a scheduled time for their appointments and walk-ins resulted in the situation.

“We advise jab recipients to adhere to the appointment time and inform health officials if they cannot make it.

“Health officials will give a new vaccination date if the recipients cannot make it,” she said, adding that those without appointments should not turn up at vaccination sites.

The state logged 60 new Covid-19 cases yesterday, taking its total to 59,409. One virus death was recorded last night.

There are 530 coronavirus patients undergoing treatment in the state, with 244 in hospitals, 286 in quarantine centres and 42 in intensive care units, with 23 requiring breathing aid. – The Vibes pic, May 18, 2021
