KUALA LUMPUR – Tan Sri Tengku Azlan Almarhum Sultan Abu Bakar has returned to Umno following his resignation as Temerloh Bersatu chief.

During a press conference today, Tengku Azlan handed his application form to rejoin the Barisan Nasional lynchpin via the Paya Besar division to Pahang Umno communications chief Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail.

He said he believes Umno is the right party to champion Malay and Islamic rights.

“Today, I sent my application form to the Pahang Umno communications chief and chose to become a member of the Paya Besar Umno division.

“I would like to thank Datuk Ahmad Tajuddin Suliaman and the division for considering my membership.

“As Malaysians, we must defend the constitution, regardless of our political leanings.

“We must hold on to the principles of parliamentary democracy and constitutional monarchy, given that the federal constitution is the supreme law of the land.”

The current political imbroglio was triggered by Umno’s declaration that it is pulling support for Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who is also Bersatu president, and his Perikatan Nasional administration.

However, not all Umno members are in agreement, with some opting to continue supporting the government until Muhyiddin tables a vote of confidence in the Dewan Rakyat next month. – The Vibes, August 9, 2021
