KOTA KINABALU – The onus to ensure more development in Sabah are on two Sabah MPs who presently hold federal deputy minister posts.
In saying this, Datuk Azizah Mohd Dun (Beaufort-Bersatu) urged the two young MPs – Datuk Mohamad Alamin (Kimanis-BN) and Yamani Hafez Musa (Sipitang-Bersatu) – to fight for more development for the state.
She said Sabah and Sarawak lag behind in terms of development compared with other states due to their vast land size.
“The two states account for 60% of Malaysia and, therefore, need more focus on development,” she said in her parliamentary debate of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s speech at the Dewan Rakyat today.
Azizah said this after Rusnah Aluai (Tangga Batu-PH) asked why Sabah remains backwards, despite many Sabahans being appointed as federal ministers over the years.
Azizah also said Alamin, who is deputy education minister, and Hafez, who is deputy finance minister, should be given the opportunity to prove themselves and bring about the much-needed development for Sabah.
She said there is no need to politicise the lack of development in Sabah any longer, given that the new federal administration led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri has just been formed.
Azizah also said the ruling parties and opposition have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to stop politicising all matters and focus on getting the country back on track after being badly affected by the pandemic. – The Vibes, September 14, 2021
