KUALA LUMPUR – Pakatan Harapan presidential council is expected to meet tomorrow, sources tell The Vibes, to discuss next steps following Umno’s support of ruling coalition Perikatan Nasional (PN) despite Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin receiving the royal snub to enact emergency rule.
The council will meet at its usual meeting point – PKR headquarters in Petaling Jaya. Malaysiakini quoted Amanah deputy president Salahuddin Ayub as saying that he expected the agenda to be mainly on “supporting Budget 2021”.
PN has been seen to be on shaky ground after Muhyiddin was rejected by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to put the country in a state of emergency.
The Agong, after deliberating the proposal with the Conference of Rulers, then issued a strong statement, cautioning politicians to stop politicking, instead focus on mitigating the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic and economic recovery.
The PH presidential council comes hot on the heels of the royal rebuff but also a possible budget bill defeat as well as former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s suggestion to Barisan Nasional leaders of collaborating with PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim but without DAP.
Dewan Rakyat will convene on November 2 with the Budget 2021 set to be tabled on November 6. – The Vibes, October 28, 2020
