KUALA LUMPUR – AirAsia Group Bhd executive chairman Datuk Kamarudin Meranun and his wife Datin Siti Munajat Md Ghazali have tested positive for Covid-19.

A source close to the matter told The Vibes that the couple have been admitted to a hospital in London, UK.

According to the source, Kamarudin’s condition is stable.

The source revealed that it is understood that the couple could have contracted the coronavirus three to four days ago.

It is also learnt that the couple have been in London for about a month.

Checks by The Vibes on Kamarudin’s Instagram account revealed that he had travelled to London in late September.

Based on a post dated October 1, it is understood that the AirAsia co-founder and his wife travelled to the UK to send their daughter to university.

“Sending my daughter to university, after a gap year driven by Covid-19 situation in the UK last year. University town is two hours outside London, so we get to appreciate the British landscape.

“Will stay for a while, as working from home, it doesn’t matter which country.

“It’s the same anyway except for the time difference, which can be a bit crazy,” he said.

Meanwhile, checks on his Instagram account also found that he had received both Covid-19 vaccination doses in August.

Earlier, there were rumours that the husband-wife duo was in the ICU in a London hospital after being tested positive for Covid-19. – The Vibes, October 21, 2021
