KOTA KINABALU – Failure to meet requirements are among the reasons why Sabah’s entrepreneurs are not making the cut for government-allocated funds for entrepreneurs, said state Industrial Development Minister Datuk Joachim Gunsalam.
Gunsalam, who is also Sabah deputy chief minister III, said his ministry received many loan and grant applications but many of them did not meet the requirements.
“In the future, we may conduct an exercise to raise the awareness of our entrepreneurs so many can make the cut,” said Gunsalam while answering questions during the state assembly sitting here, today.
Earlier, Gunsalam was told that Sabah’s entrepreneurs received fewer grants and loans compared to their peninsular counterparts.
Comparing the financial assistance offered by the state and federal governments to entrepreneurs, Gunsalam was told that Sabah’s entrepreneurs would only get around RM300,000 in loans, while those on the peninsula may receive up to RM1 million. – The Vibes, December 8, 2021
