KUALA LUMPUR – The Health Ministry (MoH) has recorded zero new Covid-19 cases today in temporary flood relief centres (PPS), despite detecting 361 cases among the victims previously.

Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said a total of 963 (27.2%) of the 3,438 flood victims were examined and given outpatient treatment by the medical teams at the PPS.

MoH recorded 203 acute respiratory tract infections, 50 skin infections, 13 cases of acute gastroenteritis, one case of hand, foot and mouth disease, and 43 other infectious illnesses among the evacuees.

Meanwhile, Dr Noor Hisham said the country logged a total of 3,519 fresh Covid-19 cases today, bringing the overall count to 2,728,203.

He said the country saw 5,118 recoveries, bringing the total discharged to 2,647,587.

The ministry’s CovidNow website also recorded 57 deaths today, including five that were brought in dead.

Dr Noor Hisham said 331 cases are currently under intensive care, with 187 requiring breathing assistance.

Of the 3,519 cases seen today, he said 3,454 (98.2%) are in Categories 1 and 2, while 65 cases (1.8%) are in Categories 3, 4, and 5, he said.

Dr Noor Hisham also reported that the infectivity rate (R-naught) for the nation is below 1.0 at an R-naught of 0.90.

On top of the list is Pahang with 1.00 dan Penang (1.00) while the rest of the states and federal territories are below 1.0.

Dr Noor Hisham added that the country saw four new clusters today, bringing the total number of clusters to 6,086 since the start of the pandemic.
