KUALA LUMPUR – While criticisms of Datuk Seri Rina Harun wearing high heels during a visit to a temporary flood relief centre (PPS) has begun to subside, the women, family, and community development minister has returned to the spotlight – once again for the wrong reasons.

A video of the Titiwangsa lawmaker “cleaning” a PPS in SK Salak, Salak Tinggi has made its rounds on Twitterverse, drawing flak from netizens.

In the video posted by Twitter user with the handle @dylawok, Rina was seen launching a stream of water on the floor of the school which ostensibly is already clean while being surrounded by at least four photographers and videographers.

Dylawok questioned the Bersatu Srikandi chief’s efforts, saying “Rina, what are you cleaning when others have cleaned it already?

“It’s best if you spray water at your brain with the water jet!

“I don’t know why she is cleaning a PPS. She should be cleaning homes of flood victims. Just look, there is not even a slight bit of mud.”

The 13-second video has garnered over 17,400 retweets, 11,400 likes at the time of writing and flooded with criticism from netizens.

Twitter user @ArmyAhjumma87 took a jab at the minister alleging that Rina was just putting up a show.

“She is not ‘cleaning the PPS’ but she is just acting to clean because she doesn’t want to go to affected areas.

“Luckily she went to a PPS. What if she did this in her own backyard?”

Another Twitter user @wawinnnnnnnpointed pointed out that there’s a neighbourhood near the PPS that needs to be cleaned after being deeply affected by the floods.

“The walk to the neighbourhood would take less than a minute. That’s so stupid of her to ‘play’ water jet at the PPS.”

In a Facebook post, Rina explained that she participated in a clean-up operation to reorganise the school, which was previously transformed as a PPS.

“Praise be to God, all the families have returned to their homes after floodwaters receded.

“I am proud of the volunteers and all the agencies under the ministry who have worked hard to ensure the school can resume normally when session resumes,” she said. – The Vibes, December 26, 2021
