KUALA LUMPUR – A woman who returned from her umrah pilgrimage collapsed and died just after she stepped out of a plane at Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

According to the guide Zakariya Abd Rasip, the woman fainted after leaving the plane and died despite efforts by the flight crew and medical team to revive her.

The Vibes’ sister portal Getaran reported that the woman hailed from Lok Heng, Kota Tinggi in Johor while Zakariya thanked the Malaysia Airlines crew and airport police for their assistance.

An incident report has been lodged with the airport Immigration and police officers while the body has been sent to Serdang Hospital.

Meanwhile, Bernama reported that the woman’s death was believed to be due to complications caused by high blood pressure.

KLIA district police chief ACP Imran Abd Rahman said they received information about the incident at 1.10pm on Friday, adding that the incident took place along Gate 12 for flight MH8021.

He said the physical examination conducted on the 53-year-old victim found no suspicious marks and based on the information told to the police, the victim had high blood pressure.

He added that the victim’s body was sent to Serdang Hospital accompanied by the KLIA’s Health Ministry personnel at 2.30pm.
