KUALA LUMPUR – Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said he has met Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob to discuss several pertinent issues, including the deputy prime minister’s post.

According to Bernama, Muhyiddin said the meeting held several days ago raised the previous agreement between PN and the prime minister.

Muhyiddin said he spoke about posts in the government, including new appointments, apart from vacant posts.

“We are not asking for more (than what has been agreed upon) but on the appointment of a deputy prime minister and ministers, as well as government-linked agencies and statutory bodies, and government allocations,” the former prime minister said at a press conference in Tanah Merah on yesterday.

Muhyiddin mentioned the meeting after he was asked to comment on the status of Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin who resigned from Bersatu on May 26 to join fledgling Parti Bangsa Malaysia.

On another matter, Muhyiddin, who is also Bersatu president, said both his party and PAS have agreed to use PN’s logo in the upcoming general election.

He said Bersatu has made the decision with PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang, and that this agreement can be confirmed by PAS’ leadership.

“For instance, in Johor, Bersatu will not be the only one (from PN) contesting, but PAS too,” he said.

“That was the decision (between Bersatu and PAS) that I have noted, and I think it stands. However, in terms of the distribution of seats, it has not been decided yet.”

He also revealed that that there are several parties that have expressed interest in joining PN, but his coalition is erring on the side of caution. – The Vibes, July 3, 2022
