KUALA LUMPUR – Police clarified that a 38-year-old businessman had debt issues with an employer after he was caught on video getting dragged into a white Toyota Vellfire.
The video that went viral on social media caused a stir, with many netizens assuming that the victim was being kidnapped after he was violently shoved into the car.
According to a statement by the Ampang Jaya district police headquarters, the victim was at a restaurant in Pandan Indah before he was set upon by a group of men.
An emergency call was made at 5.03pm yesterday while several members of the public gave chase on their motorcycles while recording videos of it.
Police said the victim was released in Klang and made a police report at Ampang Jaya by 10.45pm on the same day.
He also sought treatment for his injuries at Ampang Hospital.
The process of identifying the suspects is underway, said police.
The case is being investigated under Section 365 of the Penal Code, which states that whoever kidnaps or abducts any person with intent to cause that person to be secretly and wrongfully confined, will be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to seven years, and liable to a fine. – The Vibes, September 30, 2022
