SHAH ALAM – Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu defended Perikatan Nasional’s action of sending the letter to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah recently to object to an immediate dissolution of Parliament.
Speaking to The Vibes, Faizal said while it was the right decision to voice out the party’s opinion, he also respected the king’s decision to dissolve Parliament.
“We gave our opinion to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, and the decision has been made.
“I did not think our move backfired, because if we have an opinion, I think it is only right to voice it out.
“Our only hope is that our campaign for the general election will not be much affected by the weather,” Faizal said when met at the Le Tour de Langkawi Teams Presentation at Concorde Hotel, Shah Alam.
Also present at the event was former prime minister and incumbent Langkawi MP Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Faizal, who is also the caretaker youth and sports minister, added that Bersatu’s election machinery is ready to face the 15th general election.
He was also confident that the party is stronger following the positive support from the people and hoped that all political parties will be campaigning responsibly so as not to disturb the stability of the country. – The Vibes, October 10, 2022
