KUALA LUMPUR – PAS is set to contest in the 15th general election (GE15) using its party symbol exclusively in its governed states namely Terengganu, Kelantan and Kedah, said PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang.

Announcing this while delivering a Dhuha lecture in Marang, Terengganu, earlier today, Hadi stressed the importance of voting in GE15 and choosing a leader who can rule the nation, and hoped voters would choose Perikatan Nasional (PN).

“The important thing is that we want to invite all Muslims and non-Muslims to reject the bribery, those who are ‘berat nanang’ (bad attitude) and those who are ‘keruh’ (impolite).

“Choose the people who want to improve this situation. That’s why we take people with that attitude,” he was quoted as saying according to Harakah Daily.

Meanwhile, PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said the decision not to dissolve the state legislature in three of its governed states was to ensure that the party did not contradict what it has been preaching.

“The issue is that the people are furious over parliamentary dissolution and we do not want to incur their anger if we dissolve our state legislatures.

“We have to be consistent, we even sent a letter to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong stating that we disagree with GE15 being held during the flood season.

“Therefore, we are consistent with our decision not to have the three state legislatures dissolved.

“To us, the question of dissolving should be in a calm manner after the flood season. There are a lot of things we can do within eight months (until May 2023), so we do not have to rush this matter.

“PAS admits that citizens will have to vote twice, but all the dates vary with each state…we much prefer that the (election date) is permanently set.

“With the setting of the election date, investors are not worried. If it is uncertain like this, there will be no end to it,” he said during an interview.

Tuan Ibrahim also said that PAS will be affiliated with Perikatan Nasional during GE15 as the coalition is registered, and is in view of Umno’s desire to campaign solo.

On the possibility of PAS being affiliated with Umno via Muafakat Nasional, Tuan Ibrahim said the issue is still up for discussion, in order to unite the ummah. – The Vibes, October 14, 2022
