PETALING JAYA – Muda tonight announced the first three parliamentary seats that it will contest in the upcoming 15th general election.
The party is set to contest in Kepala Batas, with 26-year-old Muhammad Danial Abdul Majeed being fielded in the semi-rural constituency in a possible “David v Goliath” showdown against incumbent Umno MP Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican.
In announcing the seats, Muda deputy president and elections director Amira Aisya Abd Aziz also announced teacher Siti Rahayu Baharin as the party’s contender against Selangor BN chief and incumbent MP Tan Sri Noh Omar in Tg Karang.
Amira announced that lawyer Lim Wei Jiet will contest in Tg Piai in Johor against MCA incumbent Datuk Wee Jeck Seng.
She also confirmed that its seat negotiations with PH have been finalised and its electoral pact formalised as of this afternoon.
“Through the negotiations with PH, we have come to the agreement that we will recognise Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the prime minister should the coalition win the 15th general election.
“We have also pledged not to have any seat clashes with PH for the election and that Muda will have the option to contest under its own party banner,” she told a press conference at the party’s headquarters, here.
Meanwhile, Amira also announced that the party will contest one more parliamentary seat in Sabah, with the announcement set to be made on Monday.
The decision on whether party president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman will defend Muar will be revealed by Wednesday, she said, as the party is set to announce several other seats in the coming days. – The Vibes, October 29, 2022
