KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia and Singapore are still in negotiations with regard to proposals presented by Putrajaya to improve the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High-Speed Rail project.
In a statement today, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed said the two countries have until December 31 to wrap up talks.
“The government will make an announcement after a decision has been reached,” he said in response to recent news reports on the project.
One article, citing unnamed sources, said Malaysia might continue with the project without Singapore’s participation by having the line end in Johor Baru instead.
It said Putrajaya has informed the republic of the proposed changes. – Bernama, November 27, 2020
