SHAH ALAM – Datuk R. Ramanan was last night introduced to Pakatan Harapan (PH) supporters as the coalition’s official candidate for Sg Buloh, despite earlier indications that PKR might reconsider his candidacy.
At an event to introduce Selangor PH candidates, the former MIC treasurer-general went up on stage to take his place among other coalition candidates when the Sg Buloh parliamentary seat was announced.
This comes hours after PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli tweeted earlier that he would be discussing Ramanan’s candidacy with party president and PH chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
He had said that they would be discussing the feedback received from Sg Buloh voters.
“The final decision is (Anwar’s) as party president,” he had tweeted.
While Rafizi had not elaborated on the details of the feedback received, this is believed to be in reference to objections from certain voters in the constituency to place Ramanan as the candidate there, replacing the incumbent Sivarasa Rasiah.

Rafizi’s comment also comes on the back of Barisan Nasional’s announcement that Khairy Jamaluddin would be contesting in Sg Buloh under the coalition’s banner.
PKR had earlier announced that it will be fielding Ramanan, who is also the party’s deputy information chief, for the seat.
Following the introduction of Selangor PH candidates last night, state coalition chairman Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said any final decision pertaining to the constituency is made by the party’s top two.
“As of now, we will continue with the announcement that has been made. We are confident (of the candidacy) with the lengthy discussions (held), as previously announced.
“However, everyone must abide by whatever decision that is made,” Amirudin said. – The Vibes, November 3, 2022
