CHUKAI – The Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) is targeting to collect about RM30 million from contributions made by its land scheme settlers, workforce, and agencies by the year-end for the Wakaf Felda initiative.
Its chairman Tan Sri Idris Jusoh said the total collection up to October 6 amounted to RM25.75 million following the fund’s launch in November 2021, and the amount is expected to increase as the collection was still going on.
“We’ve made charitable efforts a culture in Felda as we not only want to see it as a successful agency, but a blessed one as well. This is a corporate endowment fund, which means it cannot be used right away.
“This fund can only be used from the profit reaped and we will have a committee overseeing it. 60% of the collection will go back to this fund for it to grow and the balance will be used for welfare and educational purposes, and to assist the poor.”
He said this after officiating the “Jom Masuk Rancangan (Let’s Join the Scheme)” event held at Dewan Semai Bakti of Felda Neram 2 in Kemaman here today.
According to Idris, the charitable contribution of RM300 each under the Wakaf Felda initiative, which started early this year, also managed to collect RM7.7 million in funds from the settlers and officers and staff of the agency up to October 2022. – Bernama, November 7, 2022
