KUALA LUMPUR – Parts of Shah Alam, including Taman Sri Muda, are facing flash floods as a result of a two-hour downpour today.

Other affected areas include Section 17, Section 24, Section 32, Section 36, Bukit Naga, Alam Impian and Bukit Jelutong.

Several Twitter users have shared several videos of the rising floodwaters since about 4pm in Section 17, especially around the Shah Alam bus terminal, as well as houses in Taman Sri Muda.

Meanwhile, Kota Kemuning assemblyman V. Ganabatirau shared on his Facebook page that flash floods have also hit Bukit Kemuning and Bukit Rimau.

He added that Department of Irrigation and Drainage officers have turned on four water pumps at the sluice gates and reservoirs.

“The heavy rainfall caused the water level at Taman Sri Muda and the surrounding areas to rise and continuous rainfall (has) everyone in fear...so far all pumps are working…(sic),” he tweeted.

Former Klang MP Charles Santiago also warned that Jalan Kebun is seeing rising floodwaters as well.

In a 6am report by the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma), heavy rain was recorded in Kg Jawa in Klang, Kg Pasir and Batu 15 Hulu Langat.

It also warned that water levels in Taman Desa Kemuning and Kg Melayu Subang are at a danger level.

Nadma added in an announcement that Shah Alam’s Taman Mesra and Section 13 are at risk of flash floods.

Other areas at risk are Selayang, Kg Rantau Panjang in Kuala Selangor and Kg Sg Buah Luar in Sepang.

As for Kuala Lumpur, at-risk areas are Jalan Ipoh, Bulatan Pahang, Jalan Cheras, Jalan Loke Yew, LRT Bangsar, Jalan Pudu, Jalan Duta and the city centre. – The Vibes, November 8, 2022
