KUALA LUMPUR – The statements made by PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang against the unity government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim have been deemed outrageous.
Pakatan Harapan (PH) Terengganu chairman, Datuk Raja Kamarul Bahrin Shah Raja Ahmad, said that though the Marang MP did not specify anyone, the statements were surely related to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
He said there should not be any negative statements, as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the Malay rulers sanctioned Anwar’s appointment.
“In his recent post, Hadi seems to make fun of the ‘referee’, who he said was biased for extending the match time so the losing team could win ‘by any means’.
“This is an impolite accusation,” he said.
Hadi posted on social media about the regulations for football games, focusing on the rules for extra time in case of injuries or when both teams draw.
He also touched on time extensions if there is no clear winner during the predetermined time of the match.
“What happens if there is no injury or a draw, and, all of a sudden, the referee decides to extend the game, even when one side has won by having sufficient goals and points?
“Is it the referee’s own decision to provide extra time to the team who already lost the battle?
“What would be the audience’s reaction to it?” asked Hadi.
Kamarul said some also believe that Hadi was referring to the establishment of the Pahang unity government by Barisan Nasional and PH, which was approved by the Pahang palace.
He argued that both the federal and Pahang administrations were established in accordance with national and state laws based on the Istana Negara’s authority.
“The statement by Hadi displays (his) disrespect towards (the said) authority.
“If he is dissatisfied, he should pursue legal action through the courts, rather than openly disrespecting the Istana’s power and actions,” he added.
Following the statement, Kamarul urged police to immediately investigate Hadi’s statements under the Sedition Act for allegedly insulting the institution of Malay rulers. – The Vibes, November 28, 2022
