GEORGE TOWN – Bagan Dalam rep Satees Muniandy has accused Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor of creating animosity between the races.
“That’s why he is profusely lying after making those disparaging comments against Indians and Hindus,” said the DAP man in a statement.
He offered to have Sanusi enrolled in a morality class to “learn” the right values needed to lead the state.
The comments come as the rift deepens between Indian community leaders and the menteri besar, who has hit out at critics by telling them to learn Bahasa Melayu to better understand proverbs and metaphors in the language.
After insinuating that Indian leaders in DAP and MIC are alcoholics following their response to the demolition of a Hindu temple in the state, Sanusi is now twisting facts and telling his critics to attend language classes, said Satees.
“One need not be a Malay linguist to understand the comments by the Kedah MB.”
He urged the PAS leader to learn mathematics, saying Sanusi is unable to differentiate between “trillion” and “billion” when he proposed a rare-earth mining venture in the state.
“It shows that the Kedah MB doesn’t only lack mathematical understanding, but also moral and leadership values.
"He should consider enrolling in a class on how to respect fellow Malaysians. We will gladly sponsor him.”
By refusing to admit his mistake and continuing to issue provocative statements, it is evident that Sanusi only wants publicity, he said.
The menteri besar has rejected claims that he made racially insensitive remarks about the Indian community in the dispute over the demolition of the temple in Kuala Kedah.
“If they don’t understand what was said, I think they need to re-enrol in Bahasa Melayu classes. Because Bahasa Melayu is full of metaphors (kiasan) and proverbs (bidalan),” he told the press recently.
Satees said Sanusi’s defence is nothing but an excuse.
“There are many other metaphors one can use, so why did Sanusi choose the ‘mabuk’ insinuation? Why didn’t he use the ‘khayal of ketum or drugs’ metaphor instead?
“Sanusi wants to portray himself as a leader who whacks non-Muslim leaders, so that he can brandish his ‘Malay hero’ credentials.” – The Vibes, December 8, 2020
