KOTA KINABALU – The RM320 million in federal funds allocated for implementation of short-term fixes for Sabah’s water supply issues has not arrived, said Datuk Shahelmey Yahya.

This is despite two meetings held on how the funds are to be channelled to the state, said the state works minister.

“The money has not been channelled (to Sabah). But two meetings were already held by the technical committee to refine how the funding should be channelled to Sabah, among others,” said Shahelmey.

Shahelmey was met after launching the Sabah Works Ministry’s Integrity Week ceremony held at a hotel here today.

Still, he said, initiatives to resolve Sabah’s water woes, especially to stabilise the water supply in Tuaran, Kota Kinabalu and Putatan, are being carried out.

He believed that there have been positive outcomes following these initiatives.

On June 1, Putrajaya had allocated RM320.25 million to address the water supply issues.
