KUALA LUMPUR – Police have received a total of 55 reports in connection with the state elections and have opened an investigation paper concerning a damaged Perikatan Nasional billboard.

Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said investigations are being conducted under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief.

According to him, 54 reports have been classified as NOD (no offence disclosed) and no arrests were made.

“The reports were lodged by Pasukan Ops Cantas, which are carrying out checks around Selangor during the ongoing state elections.

“A total of 286 campaigns with permits were carried out, while one was done without a permit. A total of 90 rallies with permits were also held,” he said in a statement today.

Hussein said all candidates must ensure all flags, banners, and posters are put up according to regulations and not on government buildings and houses of worship.

“Please also do not put up posters on traffic lights and road signs as these could be an obstruction to road users,” he added. – The Vibes, August 6, 2023
