The ministry, in a statement, said that the visual designs were not authentic and do not reflect the actual designs of the new passport or MyKad as claimed.

"Another victim, a 54-year-old contractor, is waiting to undergo surgery to remove metal shrapnel from his body at the same hospital," he police.

Kota Tinggi District Police Chief, Superintendent Yusuf Othman, said the 15-year-old victim lodged a report a day after the incident.
